So I am patiently waiting to sign up for the last class I need to take before I graduate. Its the last class I even want to take... and it's looking really dim for me. I have faith, and a back up plan... but omg... I really need this to work out. Le Sigh. I can not wait to graduate. No more stress of this kind ever again! Stress will come in another incarnation, but this... this is too much. That (and work) explains my absence. I hopefully will have it fixed by the time school starts (next tuesday/wednesday)... Until then, fingers crossed while I get my life together.

So we all have heard enough of my obsession with Frankmusik over the summer. He disappeared recently and deleted his twitter. Well last night his fiance posted an update from Flop of the Pops blog.
He has changed his name to VDI (Vincent Did It!) and according to the interview:

This is GREAT news for people who have loved Vincent since Frankisum and complete me. He unleashed a track called DYNAMO and it's perfect pop, and exactly what you would expect to hear from him. Don't get me wrong, Do It In The AM was good, but he even admitted it was a totally different sound for him. When you have a great niche, stay with it. And he is.

SO last night I went to the Houston Rockets Basketball game. I'm not really a sports person but I went and had fun. We sat in the "red room" whatever that is. Basically it has tables and food LOL. We all know I like food, so I was happy.

Plate one. LOL.

We won, and played the Spurs.

So my new Favorite dessert is creme brulee. The tall glass was a lemon tart. OMG, me and my sweet tooth.

StereoHoggz performed for halftime, they were OK. They need some serious work.... or to break up and be solo or a 3 person thing. Maybe it was just too much going on. BUT yea, it was cool to be fully HOUSTONIAN. I missed the H. Glad to be back :)

One thing you may not know about me is that I am also in love with interior designing. Its not something I would pick as a career just because the housing market is horrible and I just don't think it's something I could really find a job in (said the girl who studies fashion). I really like it, but I have really creative and mod taste, I know that I could not adapt to what someone else wanted. But anyway, I saw these spaces and definitely need to fit some elements into the facelift I'm giving my room when I move back to Houston in December( and other ideas when I move for real.) I'm kind of basing my color story off of my Missoni for target box.
These are different Tory Burch selling spaces, I love her style! Everytime I see a space from her I feel like I could transfer myself there and feel soooo at home. Shes amaze.

I definitely dropped Tommy Hilfiger off of my radar and today I saw they are making a TV return. I didn't really care, but it actually looks really cool. Its an ad campaign called "Holiday Par-tay." I think its cute. It starts airing tomorrow so I will be looking out for it.

So I came across this new elf collection that is limited edition called 24k!
I am not really a big makeup person, I own 2 elf palates (and like them a lot). Are they as good as Mac? NO, BUT Its good every day type of make up, I have a few paint pots from MAC that a friend gave me.They are not similar at all.ELF is more light to medium coverage, appropriate for daytime. Mac is full coverage and HIGHLY pigmented. For the price, ELF is not horrible, and I recommend darker colored shadows, the eyelash curler, the eyelid primer and studio brushes. DO NOT BUY any of the light colored shadows (they look flaky and chalky) or mascara. The mascara is nice at first, but flakes off during the day.
With any pencils and eye shadow use the eyelid primer, trust me. I have both UDPP(Urban and ELF and they work the same. Elf has a finish that you can see (on my skin) but it really hold my eyeshadow (of any brand) well. The UDPP is clear but WAY more expensive. I only use UDPP for special occasions or particularly humid days.

SO there is a rumor that the entire Marc Jacobs Spring Collection was stolen. I found out last night BUT on the WSJ, they are claiming that is an elaborate publicity stunt and in fact the pieces are in NYC as we speak.

“Officials at Marc Jacobs declined comment but a person familiar with the situation told Heard on the Runway that it’s untrue that the entire collection was stolen. The runway looks are here in New York, this person said.”

Regardless of whatever really happened, the team did send out this statement in a email, which I guess is why everyone started talking about this to begin with:

"Dear all," the email woefully began. "The Marc Jacobs PR team is sorry to inform you that our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store [in London] is cancelled, due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris."

Seriously, first of all... It someone fabulous because they were all sample sized.... Second it better not be on its way to a counterfeiter, which is the general consensus in the fashion world right now. WTF. Im legit angry that someone decided to steal the entire collection. Its taking someones work, money, BABIES.46 looks. GONE.

UPDATE: WWD is reporting that “it is understood that thieves made off with some ready-to-wear and accessories, but not the entire assortment from Jacobs’ various collections, which include his main line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs is said to have duplicates for many of the looks.”

So I found the most amazing internship ever and Im super elated! Its such a stress off my shoulders and I'm doing everything I love. Not just visual or styling, but also social media, working on fashion shows, stuff for a local t.v. show and even designing. LIKE REAL DEAL STUFF. Not for fun, not just for class, real deal type stuff. Its such a small (but awesome) team, my creativity is able to be shown and implemented.

I've worked so hard for as long as I can remember and now to do something like this... Its cray. All smiles over here!

Im just kind of wondering what is going to happen to my actual blog :/ I don't want to turn into one of those crappy bloggers who blogs once a month. Hana Shine Shield Review!

SO you may already know Hana from having the best blow dryer, selling chi straighteners, or having this awesome Shine Shield. Oh you don't? Well now you do!

Misikko sent me this shine shield to try in my hair! I thought it would be a small sample bottle that was trial sized, but no they sent a full size sample, I guess they knew I
A) have lots of hair or
B) would like it and need the full sized sample.

I only straighten my bangs to pull them back out of my face, but the last few days the weather has been crazy and windy so I thought "What a perfect test for this product."

Eww, you get to see me when I wake up.

It held up really well! Its an oil treatment so my hair was flexible and shiny! I just trimmed my hair so I have no clue about its repairing properties, I've been using it for 3 days and my hair has been soft the while time. I don't really have any complaints. For anyone who wants to try it, it has a powedery scent to it, its not strong but I know some people do not like scents. The scent doesn't bother me.

I give HANA an A+! I'm picky with my hair since its so unruly, so the fact I like this says a lot :) It has also been compared to Moroccan oil. I have never used Moroccan oil so I don't know how it compares, but the reviews on the site say that the hana shield beats it out!

I had an interview today, this is what I wore:

I love being able to work in fashion, I can look cool at interviews and have them say they like my style :) Yes that happened today. I got good news, they said they really liked me and I have to go back for a second interview. The bad news is that the second interview is in 2 weeks -____-IDK what to do. I want to wait it out because I really like that company and I think it would be a great opportunity, but also I don't want to get rejected and have to scramble to look for another position.

BUT IN OTHER HAPPIER NEWS, I FINALLY TRIED MACAROONS!

This photo above chronicles the lemon goodness that is my first bite of lemon macaroon amazingness. I also bought red velvet and salted caramel. OMG SALTED CARAMEL IS MY SECOND FAVE! Red velvet was bland. But I love the texture of these, my only negative is that fact that these little petite sweets are freaking $1.75 each! Thats pretty much as cheap as they come in this region, too bad I'm obsessed.

So I guess my high school just bred a few talented hopefuls, Amondre is nothing short of that. We met in our TV production class and his penchant for Fashion was unrivaled. Besides having fashion knowledge, he had an interest in modeling, and here we are almost 6 years later, and homie is destined for greatness! Tell me little about yourself?
I’m 19. Born and raised in Houston. Signed to Page.713

Do you have a cool story about how you got discovered?
I wish! I wasn’t discovered in mall or anything like that. At 15 I went into an open call at my agency. They told me they were concerned about my height at the time but were willing to take a chance on me. So here we are 4 years later and taller.

What started your interest in fashion?I would flip through magazines and always wanted to either be on the cover or in the pages. I later started to learn the names of designers and actually pay attention to the art and design of clothes. One of my friends who is also a model tells me I know too much for a male model about the industry but I guess that's a good thing.

What is one of the coolest shows or shoots you have done so far?
The coolest thing I’ve done so far was neither a shoot or show. It was meeting with COACD (Douglas Perrett) and being featured on their website as one of their favorites. It was pretty major because every top model has been featured on their website. Douglas is also an awesome guy. I got to hangout with him a bit and he gave me some really great advice about my career.

Is there anyone that you would die if you model for them, Like Uncle Karl LOL?
Tom Ford, Christopher Bailey (Burberry) or Ricardo Tisci (Givenchy).

What is something you learned working in the industry that might be surprising?

It’s 10% looks and 90% personality. Looks only get you in the door. The rest is how well you can sell yourself to a client.

Are you working on anything special currently?
I’m planning on moving to New York by the summer. Then hopefully start looking into major markets (London, Paris, Milan, etc.) As far as jobs go I never know. Bookings sometimes happen 24 hours in advance. I hate never knowing what's next.

Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to break into the modeling industry?

Never give up. You're going to get a million no's before you receive one yes. It won't happen overnight but once you land something big your career will take off.

New Nail Art Trend-Magnetic Polish?

I was flipping through my teenVOGUE before bed last night and came across this ad:

NEW NAIL ART TREND ALERT, MAGNETIC NAILS. This seems pretty interesting.

Basically, its a nail polish with magnetic files imbedded, and the tip of the nail polish cap has a strong magnet that pulls the design out of the lacquer.
IT retails for $16, but this trend is bound to make it's way into other brands soon for less. I know essence has a version out there but it dries quick so you have to work pretty fast, also the polish and magnets are sold separate, I only saw the price in Euros but I think its around $5-6 for the polish and 3-4 for the magnet:

Halloween Nail Art

Looking at the calendar I realized how close Halloween is! Next week there is a volunteer fundraiser called "Fall Festival" and I am over-thinking what I should wear? Not a costume because I am working the event and going on 22 LOL, I'm working with "chilrens" sooooo any costume I desire is not appropriate. I think I'll find something random in my closet that's festive, I surprise myself sometimes with the things that are in there.

While at the store, I came across some Sally Hansen nail stickers that are Halloween themed!

I wanted the ghosts ones BUT they we're $8.50 and I can probably do something festive myself. I have a bundle monster nail kit (knock off version of konad) that has some Halloween stencils. I looked up some nail designs and had to share them!

Try them out, and show me!!! Maybe I'll post the coolest ones :)

I think I want to either do the Mummy nails, or like the last two photos, a combination of all of the inspirations.
Another Quick solution is black shatter polish on top on orange polish.

My OPI black shatter dried out -_____- LIKE seriously dried out, the polish left inside the bottle was a hard cake in the shape of the bottle. I just ordered a china glaze one to replace it. I really like the china ones better than OPI. SORRY.

Yessss, its cold outside! I can finally be comfortable and warm, and pull out fall fashion. Here in Texas the weather is always changing, so layers are my best friend. Side note: I am about to start making my own vests and cardigans, I saw this easy pattern making for one on Chris March, Mad Fashion. I'm inspired! But anyway, enjoy my layers inspiration!

Its about 55 degrees outside :) I didn't get to enjoy it however, class got cancelled because my teacher was sick. Oh and in other news, I went to a Zumba class. Zumba will be my new Tuesday/Thursday thing :)

We mighty fine Bearkats are now 6-0! We beat everything out of Nichols, 47-7. LOL.

I did decide to show some homecoming spirit for my senior year, so I actually braved the direct sun (I wore sunscreen this year! Best invention ever!) and stayed for about 2/3 (I left when it was 30-0, It was obvious we were going to win) of the game.

My friend Narvina and me at the game! I, in true Mara fashion couldn't just wear a SHSU shirt, I have to wear an Orange cami and accessorize appropriately.

Also snagged a cup and shirt! Its a pretty good quality cup too, I was kind of surprized. Our theme was "Peace, Love and Bearkats" You can barely see it on the cup, it is written in orange.I don't have pic of the shirt but its pretty cute!
I am now very dark from the sun, but nooo sunburn this year! SPF85 is no joke.

I wanted to make a MalibuMaraTV about this but I am on a hiatus for a while.I use these items the most in my makeup bag. I don't really wear makeup besides eyeliner and mascara. Thats really all I have time for in the morning! I bought the extra super lash on a whim and it is amazing, it lengthens very well!The roll one depuffing gel saves my life, I naturally have bags under my eyes, this really clears them up. I want to try the Garnier one just because, I hear a lot of things about them. For these really hot months the studio secret facial primer is my MUST HAVE item.I use the angle brush and black shadow was eyeliner mainly because I ran out of my Maybelline and I haven't replaced it. I really never wear lipstick, but for a fun pop, Siren from revlon is really great. Please be fall soon, It will look awesome with my selection of neutrals and neons, stay tuned for outfits posts :)

Cobra Society knee boots: black brushed-leather, multicolored hand-woven wool, heel measures approximately 50mm/ 2 inches, cutout at back, designer tag, yellow stitching, almond toe. The woolen part of these boots is hand-woven and therefore the pattern may vary from that shown.

I'm also hunting for an internship for the fall! I need it to graduate BUT I want my internship to turn into a job. I can probably just go to the mall and get one in a store, BUT THAT IS MY LAST DITCH EFFORT, I really want to LEARN something new. I've been working in retail since I was 16, I think I got it down. I really like this whole "qualitative research stuff" I've been doing, and I kinda played with the idea of working in trend forecasting. It seems cool so far, even though I've wanted to be a buyer since I was in HS. My life obviously operates in surprise turns so I'm just waiting.

I wasn't going to post today but I am really bummed out about Steve Jobs passing today. I saw a documentary about apple and his life over the summer and he was truely a steadfast innovator and I admired his tenacity.If anyone gets a chance, I'm almost positive that CNBC will be playing the documentary again, GO WATCH IT. Mid 2004 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and it got the best of him. He resigned this past August knowing he could no longer fulfill his duties and expectations as CEO. I always say the point of life isn't to live forever, its to make something that will. Congrats Steve Jobs, you did it.

Sweatpants on Campus? Yes or No?

If you are like me, you REFUSE to wear sweatpants on campus. I do not understand it, unless you are an athlete/kines major or dance major. I feel like if you take the time to lay an outfit out before you sleep, getting dressed takes like 5 minutes. There are people who are like "Wahhh I don't feel the same in morning." Umm, I don't feel like anything in the morning besides rushed. It seriously takes like less than a minute to throw on jeans.
What sparked this post was a photo album uploaded by Victoria's Secret. Not gonna lie, I love their sweats, but not for on campus. The album is supposed to be "stylish ways to wear their sweats." Not lying. I know what you are thinking, pics or it didn't happen:

That extra 3 minutes to throw on skinny jeans would have made this outfit a 9. It's a 6.

Really? This seriously made the photo album. SHES WEARING A ROBE. No.

Out of all of them, I actually like this.... UGH. BUT JEANS WOULD HAVE MADE IT BETTER.

Yea, this made the album too. Her hair is undid, her flats look busted. Props for the sequin sweater and cool bracelet. I give her a 6.

It seems to draw from a bit of Alexander Wang, Celene, and Rodarte. I don't see a definite identity yet. I like what I see, but I can't look at it and say "Oh this is Kanye West."I still think it's great if I can compare it to those people. Hard work goes a long way. But I think Ye has a long way to go. The tailoring was off, and the styling wasn't cohesive. I really want to like this collection, but I guess I just have to wait and see what's next.

It's pretty enlightening, and I have about 1/3 of the book left to go, but school work has interrupted the progress. I usually take it to classes and try to read in my break times but I haven't been doing that lately. In other news, I had dinner (kind of) with my amazingly successful friend Grace who carries an adorable Kate Spade bag. I haven't really thought about purses in a while but today watching the style network they showed this Kate Spade bag called the Kennedy that I DIED over.

I of course headed over to the website and saw the new collection, and I must say, it's really nice.

I have been a bit absent, while I have been gone a bit, London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week have gone on.; not to mention my Weekly Fashion life in general. I really want to talk about all the cool stuff I'm doing, But I have to wait. Just know that I am really happy and excited. I also saw Stedman Graham yesterday. He came to my campus to speak. He talked a lot about being productive, and to find yourself. Basically, I have been living life the right way. Find something you love and you never feel like you're working.... CHECK!

In FASHION WEEK NEWS, Burberry has won my heart. I mean when you end a show with glitter I can't turn way.

I was ok for the first few weeks of school... Now I am really feeling the pressures of college and my final semester in residence. My new ambassador job is shaping up really well too... I'm actually really excited, and I think its going to go really well! This is actually pretty unusual... But Im happy.

A lot of people ask me how I can blog and be a student and be awesome in real life at the same time... LOL. And honestly, I always say that I am on the internet anyway looking for inspiration for fashion classes and I just post what I like from my research. Its also a bit of a pick-me-up if I can post something that makes me smile when I see it. I'm studying for my consumer behavior test Monday and I'm reading about how everything from smells, ambiance, and MUSIC can effect consumers. Most of it is pretty obvious, but its funny when you realize you are an example of what you are studying!

Today is the end of MBFW, and I have to catch up on not only some of the shows, but all aspects of my life as well. But anyway, for the final day of MBFW,MARC JACOBS MY IDOL SHOWED. Marc by Marc Jacobs is what I look forward to every season.

This was literally a show! Dance hall vibe, great street car named desire-esque themey music, metallics... The list is endless. I loved it.

LOVES this, and just clicked in my head, Houston fashion week is called Audi fashion week. LMFAO.Street Style from fashion week is my fave. LensLurkers or not, you look awesome.

My love for accessories does not feign. This is a piece of the Fenton SS12 collection. You must look out for that label. ITS EVERYTHING.

Did i mention Oscar De La Renta was one of my top 5? Well he is. Jeremy Scott backstage, omg, Xray glasses. And the cactus looks on his runway were amaze.

Its kind of an inspiration piece for me. I got the milk crate in the warm colors. I wanted the mini media box to match but they sold out. This milk crate was only 9.99! I love the colors and it sits on my desk right now. Its sooo pretty but Its going to be the color palate of my future office. One day :) It reminds me to keep working hard. I woke up to AWESOME NEWS. I got as position as a brand ambassador with a company. I won't be talking about it much until its over, BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY! They send the best ones to NY! WERQ!

Missoni and MBFW!

I did not have time today to watch any live streams :/ I'll catch up later.

I did stop by target for the Missoni line BUT I didn't buy anything. I might go back on Friday or so to see what they have. Target is receiving shipments of the line all week, so other items will be surfacing. And LOL at the site crashing. My Target is in a small town, so people do not know/care who Missoni is. They pretty much had EVERYTHING in stock still. I feel like I should buy everything and sell it on EBAY for 10x as much. HMMM...

Spring RTW/ Remembering 9.11

9.11 will always be tied to fashion week because it occurred during the Spring/Summer2002 showing. Add that with actually being in NYC, and the patriotism and inspiration is obvious. God Bless not only America, but the entire world. Im not going to go into my rant about everyone uneducated preaching blasphemous conspiracy theories. Just know this: Many lives we're lost, and many lives are effected. I was 11, and now I'm 21, carrying the problems of the result of something I didn't understand. It's been 10 years, its good to remember what made you fall, but it's important to get up, and keep moving.
Today's shows are almost over but I watched like 4 livestreams already. Im loving this technology this year! Im not going to post the generic photos from all the shows this year, I feel like doing it different. If you want to see the generic photos go to style.com or something. I love all the backstage shots, street styles, and candid closeups.

Fashion weak. It's fashion week,and Im fashion weak. This is the second half of my fashion tour!

Free sushi, I think I ended up getting about 10 rolls. #awesome

LOL. Photos are from my other blogger friend JUSTNORMAN, his blog and tumblr are pretty awesome so check him out too. This show had current fall2011 looks from the stores. I forgot to mention that we have a PALLADIUM boot store! The dude gave us free umbrellas. They are palladium with the logo on them, and are pretty wide. If it ever rains Im going to look awesome. I really want some Palladium boots tho.

I'll be covering all the runway shows all week probably in multiple posts. We'll see.

Fashion's Night Out.

So yesterday was Fashion Night Out. There was a cute little show put on at the pavillion and the weather was perfect! If course both cameras I had malfunctioned, so there is a delay in the FNO video. I think I need to film a voice over for it. But anyway, tonight is the REAL show that I have been waiting for.

Yesterday I wore fall staple color, RUST and an orange lip. It was my version of colorblocking, but is apparently all over the runway for spring2012. SWEET. Natalie and Just Norman were there too with us, along with Brayone, Brittany and Yolissma, but they came late!

Weather was nice this morning! Im having a busy week, but its almost FASHION WEEK! I can't wait for Fashion's Night Out :)On Thursday! If there isn't anything I like more than what people are wearing on the runway, it is the street style from the shows.

After the shows I might take a bit of a blog break, we'll see. I have a lot going on that I need to work out.

Reading up on the upcoming fashion week, we all know the only show I truly DIE for is Marc Jacobs. He had to move his show from the 12 to the 15 due to hurricane Irene.
