FIVE FALL SHOWS I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF

Alright, when fall/winter rolls around I honestly want nothing more than to curl up on my couch with tea, read or binge. Its cold, its dark, I just like to recharge from a long day and get into a good show or two... Here are five.
INSECURE
Insecure has 3 seasons and is on HBO. Don't have HBO? Neither do I, I have the HBO NOW app that I honestly only subscribe to when insecure is on... when its off I get rid of it. I'm sure HBO doesn't appreciate it but they are working on new series that might keep me around year long in the future. For now, Issa and her antics are hilarious and real. The only complaint I have about this show is that it is only 30 minutes and the seasons are so short. Its hella funny though! My Sunday is made so much better by this show. I always get a laugh in.
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER
After they killed Wes I was like, "What's the point in watching this now?" I am still into it. I think I'm invested in all the characters. YES, some of them make stupid ass decisions but I am addicted. Is Bonnie ok? Will homegirl get her baby back? And why is her dad trash? Who is that new guy that is cute that is obviously the eye candy to replace Wes?
RIVERDALE
Riverdale might be my guilty pleasure. Based on the Archie's comic, this dark twist is so juicy but soooo good. We left season 2 with Archie getting arrested. Season 3 begins with him in court. Toni Topaz is now a series regular, dating Cheryl now, I figured we would see her more. My complaint about season 2 was we kind of forgot about Polly and that she was preggo. I hope they show Polly again because she was kind of important to season 1, weird that she was left out so much season 2. Dark noir theme, perfect for spooky szn.
AMERICAN VANDAL
Need a funny show to take your mind off of real life? Netflix Vandal is HILARIOUS. True crime is such a popular theme and I am not the biggest fan. I dip in here and there, but its not the only genre I consume. AV takes the seriousness of true crime but applies it to absurd high school pranks. Its all scripted but OMG I die. This season is the Turd burglar. Just watch it!
AHS
Oldie but goodie. Perfect for spooky szn but yes, its gory and cringy, but its so good. This season is supposed to mix murder house and coven and coven was my favorite season ever. I am waiting to get to the Coven shit because that was EVERYTHING. AHS just screams spooky szn.

Heartbreaks, Hurricanes, and Hope

It makes me so sad to sit by and watch what is happening in my beautiful city. I've been streaming fox26 because CNN and the weather channel are so dramatic. Local news is what I needed. So it typically rains about 50 inches a year... almost 25 inches have already fallen. An additional 20 are coming. This is over a span of 7 days.... this is bad. I see a lot of comments on social media that say things along the line of "Well it rains all the time you should have been prepared." No infrastructure is prepared for 50 inches of rain. Every creek, bank, reservoir and bayou are full. A years worth of rain is falling in one week. I can't wrap my head around it. I keep seeing places that I know just submerged and we are halfway through the storm.

BINGE WATCH PLAYLIST
While my friends are stuck, I want to give you all a playlist of things to binge watch because when I was less dramatically snowed in, humor on TV was the one thing to lift me up when I was alone and dealing with something that scared me. It's a good break from the news:

BACHELOR FINALE| WILL YOU ACCEPT THIS ROSE?

Here is a secret I've been keeping all year... I WATCHED THE BACHELOR ALL SEASON. I've never seen a single episode of the bachelor but during one of our snowpocalypse days I started binging and here I am.
I hate Nick, and I feel like he's not going to pick any of the girls. If I have to guess, I hope he picks Raven. They keep saying something that has never happened before will happen, I've never watched soooo  I can't come up with a scenario. I mean, I'm also kind of waiting to see if he proposes and the girl says no BECAUSE THAT'S HIS BIGGEST FEAR! He's basically made it all the way to the proposal 2 times and got rejected, I think finding luck on TV is not the wave for him.
I also feel like I only watched this show for Corrine but once she left I was kind of bored. She was an awful person too but was just great to watch.
Have you seen the bachelor workout challenge? I wish I did this all season but for this last episode, lets play along:
BACHELOR WORKOUT CHALLENGE:
See a rose-- 10 Crunches
Someone Cries-- 10 Lunges
"Amazing"-- 5 pushups
"My future wife..." 10 bicycle crunches
"The Right reasons" -- 15 Calf Raises
This will be fun!

In honor of the final rose, I linked a few rose items from my fave brand Ban.do below. I want everything.

How are you watching tonight?
Happy groggy Monday, daylight savings time owes me an hour!

5 Shows I'm Binge Watching While Being Snowed In and Miserable

It is day 5 of a 5 days shut in. Queue the dramatics,  so I reported on the PDX snow but since then the streets haven't gotten any better I have just been at home. I don't know how to drive in ice or snow and I'm not sure my car can do that soooooo I just stay my ass at home binge watching while working! Saturday, Sunday and Monday (for MLK) have been a time to take my mind off the ice outdoors and anger of being at home and not the office and diving into some shows that I am into right now:
My two go to's over this time have been Netflix and Viceland. I have seen all the typical recommendations: Chewing Gum, Insecure, OA, Stranger things ETC so it was a small challenge to find something to get into and watch. This is what has kept me sane:

SUPERSTORE: OMG this show is so funny. The cast is set in a store that is similar to WalMart and they are all so funny. I love the gay Filipino character Mateo because HELLO. FILIPINO AKO. The black guy Colton in a wheel chair is also hilarious, basically everyone is really funny. I think this is one of the few sitcoms that I like every character. It's from the same producer as the Office so if you like that dynamic and timing you will like this show. The diverse case is a major plus.

To get me through the day I listen to multiple podcasts and Desus and Mero is one. THANK GOD Viceland gave them their own TV show because this is how I was able to keep up with current events in a hilarious way. On their podcast they mention a lot of current or twitter current stories so it elevates the humor to be able to hear them talk about memes and other stories with visuals. They are so funny together I hope this show is on forever.
I kept seeing stories about A Series of Unfortunate Events and I thought they were just talking about the movie but netflix put together an amazing 8 episode series with NEIL PATRICK HARRIS and it is excellent. I read the books when I was younger and this deviates a little but is very entertaining. No need to read the book to understand what is going it, it is a great series and the story telling is really good. NPH is really talented, Count Olaf is a character who is trying to adopt these kids whose parents died so he can be in control of their fortune. Very, very unfortunate things keep happening to these kids, this was not a happy book series and the show is in line with that. I really enjoyed it and NPH was actually a great Olaf. In the series Olaf is a very bad actor so to take the kids back he will try to dress as other people to try to essentially kidnap them. Its so good, just watch.

In continuing my Viceland viewership Bong Appetit is a really interesting show. The host Abdullah hosts dinner parties while using THC and CBD as elements. Now, every time I tweet about this I mention I have never done any drugs a day in my life, but the range of flavors of Turpines and uses for THC and CBD has been really fascinating to learn about. Ry Prichard is basically a chemist so hearing him talk about levels for keeping food balanced is really cool to see. From the show I have learned that THC is the psychoactive ingredient in weed and CBD actually helps bring you down in a sense so Ry spends a lot of time in the show balancing the 2 to create a euphoric dining experience. Abdullah has also made it a point to sneak in people at the dinner table who are benefiting from the medicinal factors CBD has for them. People with Crohns and ALS have been featured that really function through life better with this drug in their life. Definitely a cool twist on a normal cooking show.
To follow the educational paraphernalia theme Hamilton's Pharmacopeia is a really random show about Hamilton Morris, a journalist and researcher who is fascinated by psychoactive drugs. In the show he does a lot of pharmacological research on many different subjects. He has traveled to South Africa to research the Quaalude and stir the pot of government conspiracy. A lot of these drugs are obviously formulated by chemists so it is easy, especially when the government is involved, to think that these are manufactured and spread to eradicate or genocide parts of the population. That in itself is interesting to read about. He has also traveled across continents to study hallucinogenic fish. It's overall a really good show and you an tell he is thoroughly researching these topics in an interesting way. Oh and he's like 29.

Shoutout to Viceland for awesome alternative TV shows.

5 FALL SHOWS ON MY DVR

As the TV freak I am, I am excited to add more shows to my DVR and keep up with all the story lines that I get so emotional over. Some of these are repeats of shows I watched from last year but I still need to keep up with them. If you haven't started watching any, set your DVR or add to your watch lists.

ATLANTA: SEPT 6 on FX
As if playing Tame Impala in the promo for this new series wasn't enough my all time favorite writer has a new series! Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino has been busy working on his new series Atlanta on FX. It is centered around the main character played by Donald trying to get his cousin's rap career off the ground in Atlanta. The show is classified as a comedy-drama and I already know I'll like it. Fun Fact, Donald Glover used to write for 30rock and studied writing at NYU. It's going to be good.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: SEPT 14 on FX
Another FX show that is now in its 6th season is ready to premier and they are being very tight lipped about the theme. Every season is distinct theme and story. The same actors appear but their characters are new each season. Throughout each season we have slowly discovered each season is intertwined, its almost like each season is an alternate universe or another time period that references past season characters or places. Ryan Murphy does a decent job with this show, but I will admit it isn't as great as the first couple seasons. I LOVED Coven but Hotel was not that great. I hated freak show. So far they are doing a great job at hiding what the real theme is for season 6, only unveiling a slew of teasers that link all past seasons in a small time frame. It was recently revealed of all the teasers released, ONE IS FAKE! So we still have no real clues into what this season will be about. I'll be tuning in since I bought into the hype, and yes...Lady Gaga will also be returning.

SCREAM QUEENS: SEPT 20 on FOX
Season one of Scream Queens was a great show to watch while mindlessly unwinding after work. Its more of a funny murder mystery and another show by Ryan Murphy. This season speeds up a bit after the Chanels (girls pictured above) have completed their time in the asylum and somehow decide to attend med school to be doctors. Former Dean Munsch also has changed careers and has decided to buy and run the hospital the Chanels are enrolled at. This all sounds absolutely ridiculous and the fact that John Stamos and Taylor Lautner are also playing doctors lets you know this is going to be crazy. I really just expect to laugh at this show, Chanel #1 has the best one liners.

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER: SEPT 22 on ABC
Who is keeping up with the twists and turns of the Keating 5 in How to Get Away with Murder? Now that Frank has disappeared and they have now killed someone else, I am starting to wonder about how the 5 Law Students are going to keep their heads on straight. They already were on edge about killing Annalise's husband, so now with this second coverup I am expecting them to unravel a bit more. It is hard for them to trust eachother and they are all individually such complex characters I can't stop watching this just because the acting is sooooo good and the story lines are actually a bit unexpected. Annalise is always 10 steps ahead and somehow always knows everything. This is a show where I watch each episode a couple times and definitely re-watch the whole season when it ends. So many clues are presented that don't click until after and its fun spotting all their easter eggs. This is definitely a show I watch on Twitter because the #HTGAWM community is always on top of every detail.

THE WALKING DEAD: OCTOBER 23 on AMC
The photo above is all you need to know why I am watching. WHO DOES NEGAN BASH WITH THIS CRAZY BAT LUCILLE? If you read the comics you have a hint but TWD often deviates from the comics. We are all waiting in suspense for the season to begin! This show is just very well written and the character development is probably the best on TV.

IS THE REST STILL UNWRITTEN FOR LAUREN CONRAD?

Besides jokingly calling myself the wannabe black Lauren Conrad you might not know that I basically love her. In her perfectly themed pastel instagram she snuck in this little hint. She Tagged her two brands and... MTV.
BITCH IS BACK.
Y'all my life is complete. Its a 3 day weekend so I'm just going to have to binge Laguna Beach and the Hills.
Fitting in with her pastel theme is this new Clarins lip moisturizer that I need in my life. Its $20 and not available until June. Oh florals and pastels. Excuse me while I get my LC on.

What to wear for San Diego Comic Con| Easy Tips and Tricks

What to wear, what to wear? Comic Con for me is just a fun experience to roam around and be comfortable. Like I mentioned, a lot of this experience is walking and waiting in lines... My ultimate must haves are simple.
SNEAKERS AND A BACKPACK.

When it comes to Comic Con I'm not into the whole Cos Play thing. I just want to be comfortable and maybe rep something I'm into. I actually have these Melody Ehsani Ventilators and I will be wearing them pretty much everyday.  I'm not a total nerd, so a shirt and jeans is fine by me.

3 things I can't wait to experience at San Diego Comic Con

It's that time of year again! Last year was my first time going to San Diego to experience the amazingness that  Comic Con. So no, I'm not a comic nerd. There is so much to do and see, this list could really be never ending.
To spare you, these are 3 things I can't wait to see/do at San Diego Comic Con.
This photo speaks for itself. The Hello Kitty Cafe food truck will be in attendance and I die at every photo I see of the food. Even the bottled water is totes adorbs. I have to buy a sheet of macarons! well, one of everything.

SCREAM QUEENS!!!

This show won't debut until October and I am already obsessed. Is that sad? I am really hoping they will be at San Diego Comic Con! I am going to make a KKT shirt because I have reached that level.
I am investing into this because its Ryan Murphy. HE DID GLEE AND AMERICAN HORROR STORY Y'ALL THIS WILL BE AWESOME. I mean the cast has Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, Lea Michelle, Jaime Lee Curtis.... it seriously goes on. I mean Nick Jonas is even in it.

Will you be watching with me? AHS has gotten boring so I hope this is as good as I'm expecting.

SAN DIEGO COMIC CON WAS LIFE.

Who wouldn't love this balcony view?
So I might have to change my name to SanDiegoMara because I am in love with the weather and how
awesome the atmosphere was. Our hotel room was basically better than my apartment and overlooked a marina. If you ever go to San Diego the Humphrey's Half Moon inn and Suites is the best place to stay. Granted I may just be in love with our room that over looked a marina... I hope to go back next year and stay there!  Again-- the weather was amazing and I was not in a hurry to get back to Houston, Texas.

Almost a 60,000 steps were taken to explore the mecca of Comics, Video games, movies and TV shows. Everything from Tokidoki, The Walking Dead, Bates Motel, Avengers,  Xbox live, Bandai, Hello Kitty, American Horror Story... ok this list could go on forever.
Basically walking the exhibit hall was awesome, I got a poster signed by the entire cast of Sharknado 2. I LOVE SYFY MOVIES, so I kind of got it as a joke. Side note--Tara Reid is such a troll she didn't even acknowledge me when she signed my poster and was on the phone... She like scribbled Taskdjakjsasodk and scooted it on over to Vivica Fox. Sharknado 2 premieres on Wednesday July 30th, I'll be live tweeting it.
Check out photos (LOTS OF THEM) from my experience. I didn't photograph EVERYTHING because it was ALOT annnd I was living life in real time, not through a lens.

GREAT DAY, HOUSTON.

Talk about a busy morning. Before work I helped out fellow blogger Shasie from Live Life in Style with her segment on Great Day Houston. Great Day Houston is a local morning talkshow here in Houston, Texas hosted by the beautiful Deborah Duncan.

Campus fashion does not have to be boring and Shasie talked a lot about fun ways to dress up your logo apparel! My look repped my Alma Mater, Sam Houston (EAT EM UP KATS) and featured a terry cloth hoodie, lace shorts, ankle boots and white socks. My make-up was done by the amazing Amburlee. My lips were all the rage. Cute way to wear school colors at the next homecoming game, huh?

SHSU on my lips ya'll. Amburlee is awesome if you are in Houston and need hair and makeup see her wok here: http://www.hairbyamburlee.com/

Memory Lane: The O.C.

I have an embarrassing confession. One of my favorite shows when I was in high school was The O.C. MAINLY because Seth Cohen was sooo nerdy and adorable. Also, him and summer made the cutest couple ever, he wrote a comic book for her... HOW CUTE IS THAT?
I couldn't get enough. NOT TO MENTION THE STYLE ON THAT SHOW.I feel like at heart I have an inner Seth Cohen... He's hilarious.

Elle Cover: Selena Gomez is So Fab

I haven't really posted any photos from shoots or magazines in a LONG time but Selena looks super amazing in these, so I couldn't resist. She's now 19, taking on more movie roles and hopefully here to stay in the Hollywood spotlight. Like I have mentioned before, she's a pretty good role model. Pick up this issue to see her interview, she talks about everything from her new film Spring Breakers to the Beibs. My favorite excerpt:

On seeing Jennifer Lopez in Selena at age five:
"I made a bustier out of a bathing suit that I dyed black. I put glue and glitter all over it and I wouldn't take it off.

Sounds like a fashionista in the making.

Infinite Summer

As I get accustomed to the increasingly predetermined status of "Unemployed College Grad," I have been able to think about life. Peruse the thoughts of a static mind, and really reflect on what is really going on. I am currently in the process of phone interviews, but I am still weighing the options of the outcomes that might develop from any decisions that I might make. Can I admit I'm still California dreaming? I admit everything happens the way it's supposed to. But THIS is different. I'll just go with the flow, as usual.

AND if you are also a recent grad or just want a laugh about being a recent grad, read this HILARIOUS Jezebel article: NEW GRADS, YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING

In Other, Other News, 3 episodes of community come on tonight! Hayyyyy, :) sad it won't be back until the fall. It will also be back on a Friday next fall.

I'll be live tweeting most likely. Screw American Idol.

MTV VMAs, and Beybay.

The one night a year MTV pretends to care about music occurred last night and my official fashion post will be up later on today on www.jayswag.com . I LOVE Britney Spears and the "tribute" started off cute with CHA-CHI from I.aM.mE dressed ' baby one more time Britney' dancing to all of the pop queen's hits from the past decade with other adorable young dancers... But it stopped there, WHY? They made it seem like all types of celebrities were gonna do stuff and that didn't happen. ANNNDD During Britney's thank you speech, she had to introduce Queen B! BUT, That was my favorite moment of the show. Beysus is pregnant, and is going to have the most talented and awesome child ever in life.BeyBay.

Better than your faves.
