COURTYARD MARRIOT SAN DIEGO HOTEL

This post has taken me soooo long but I wanted to be sure to also share how amazing our Hotel stay was. Our first year at comic con will be hard to beat just because it was the first one and our hotel was really amazing. It was on the waterfront with the marina view and we were upgraded to a really cool modern suite with a wrap around balcony.
The next two years we not as lucky, but this year was really cool!

We stayed at the San Diego Courtyard Marriot in Downtown (503 broadway). We were so close that we were able to walk to the convention! Most of the hotels (especially if you book through Onpeak with Comic-Con) have free shuttles from your hotel and the center that run every 15-30 minutes. Our hotel technically had a shuttle but I always walked where I wanted to go. It was within walking distance of Horton Plaza (the really lack luster mall) and Spreckles (where Conan is filmed).

Minus the fact that Downtown San Diego smells like piss, it was great to walk everywhere! Our view was of downtown, and the staff and everyone was really sweet. To avoid lines and how crowded everything is we paid for uber eats or postmates to get food.
The coolest thing about our hotel is that it was once a bank! It has historic elements but the rooms are very accommodating and really charming. Our staff was so sweet and left mints and even folded our towels into animals. From the moment I walked into the grand lobby the concierges were all so nice and even made small conversation. Mind you, this was the beginning of comic-con. It's so busy and crazy but everyone was so nice. Besides a comfortable bed, this room not only had city views, but also wifi, a mini fridge and microwave. The hotel itself has a restaurant, fitness center, business center and 24hr market. We were on a block with a 7-11, so we took the cheap route with any inexpensive needs by stocking up there and a grocery outlet we found. We actually skipped Ralphs completely this year!
The more I think about it, I think this place is tied for first. I can't get over the charm. Its a Courtyard Marriot but was ran with a boutique vibe. A+ for the staff, it was super clean, and had appropriate modern touches. We had the deluxe room which is only a queen bed with the desk area but the large windows made it seem spacious. I loved it! If you are in San Diego and need a place to crash, this is high on my list just because it is in Gaslamp, right in the heart of everything.

LOVE, MARA
