Merry Christmas! Let's Start this Hiatus...

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I am going through a pretty rough time right now, and I just want to take a mini hiatus until new years. I will be back and BETTER THAN EVER. I'm going to clear my head, restructure this blog, and really get back to the happy me. I'm going to be fine :) I just need a little time to clear my mind, that is all.
OH PS I don't have a phone right now, my last phone crashed so I am patiently waiting my warranty exchange in the mail. NOT FUN.

Scene and Heard: AlailaLee

The lovely knitwear accessory mogul Alaila recently reached out for an interview. She's an inspiring accessory designer and I am glad to feature a part of her journey. You are never too old or too young to follow any of your dreams. Check out www.alailalee.com and her quick interview!

First off introduce yourself and your online store to all of my readers who may not know you.
Hello Malibu Readers, my name is AlailaLee. I am a 17 year old entrepreneur, owning my own online knitwear store.
I wish I knew how to knit... My beanie game would be sick LOL. What sparked your interest in knitting and making knit accessories?
LOL. I plan on making beanies so your "sick beanie game" dream can come true thanks to Alailalee. It was always a dream of mine to knit, I just love the concept. You start off with balls of yarn and your end result could be a pair of gloves, hat, scarf... The list virtually has no end! I simply find sewing amazing. It's hard to describe something so significant to me in just a few sentences.
Do you want to expand and create other items eventually? If so what ideas do you have?
Yes, I definitely plan on expanding the material. Alailalee is new to the market so I am taking baby steps right now. I have many designs and creations in my book. Alailalee's future holds more beanies for Malibu Mara , scarves, gloves, shirts , sweaters and so much more!

Haha, Malibumara Loves beanies!
If you could collaborate with any designer who would it be?

That’s a hard one, they're so many brilliant designers out there. I would have to say Melody Ehsani. There is just something about her and her designs that I truly love. I feel I would have a connection with her because I faithfully love her pieces! According to Ehsani, "How can I make this better?" This is a question I always ask myself because there is always room for improvement. Ehsani has inspired me though her designs as well as her character.
Ahh, Melody Ehsani was one of the first interviews I've ever done. You're in great company.
Did you have a lot of support when you had this idea to create and sell?
Yes I had a lot of support. I think because people saw I was serious and how ambitious I was they had no choice but to support. There will always be those though that will oppose your vision because everyone has nay sayers. I don’t let people comments concern me because Walt Disney was called not creative , Marilyn Monroe was told she could not act. If they would have listen to the people who told them that than, their legacy would not be living on till this day.
Do you have any advice for anyone else who is young and wants to start their own line?
Once you realize what your heart beats for go for it. Do your research and do it , because if you don’t no one else will do it for you. It’s not always easy but the journey is worth the ride and the ending result will alert you that you did all for the right reasons.
What is one of the best things you have learned so far when creating Alalia Lee?
Self independence, I did a lot on my own but some situations that I have went through taught me that no one will love and put as much effort into Alaila Lee as me. I have so much more to learn as my brand continues to grow.

Thanks again for this interview, Do you have any last words for the readers of MalibuMara?
Thank you and check out my website www.alailalee.com . I would love if everyone follow me

Weekend Wrap-up: Everyday is my Birthday

Well I turned 23! I had a long birthday weekend but overall I enjoyed it! It feels great to have a birthday that is not laden with a FINAL. LOL, For the past 8 years of my life there has been at least a final or major test on my birthday. LE SIGH. The perils of being an adult.
LEFT TO RIGHT: I bought myself a pair of Sky Hi Wedge Dunks. I decided if I was going to give in to the wedge sneaker trend I might as well go with my favorite sneaker and add a wedge// I spoiled myself a bit for my b-day... I also have a pair of black Nike Free's that are not pictured. // Miss Grace and Miss Jacquie. Honestly two of my truest best friends. My ride or dies LOL. // My mom made the wait surprise me at the first bay dinner. He sang me happy bay too. It was mildly great and mildly embarrassing// Grace got me some Marc Jacobs Lola perfume, I love how obnoxious it is! I'm also wearing Ciate Velvet Mani that Jacquie bought me, review soon// It was the same day as the Santa Pub Crawl. HAHA// If you're behind on the times I bought a 2013 ltima... I completed my key ring with an ID pouch from Michael Kors.// Miss Jacquie and I in Galveston, the waves were pretty choppy!// Of course my friends had to tell the waiter it was my birthday LOL. Our waiter was super sweet tho!`
Also not photographed, but happened during the week; I attended SONY713.The band was pretty good, as was the food. They served some drink from Prohibition that involved a ginger beer. LOL, Bun B even showed up for a bit. I wish I took more photos but I was being a bad blogger and wayyyy out of my element since it was a techie event and not fashion related. I must say though, I did play around with some Sony cameras and I am very impressed.

PS The ton-tons are super fab. I love great local Talent.

STYLE ICON: Tulisa Contostavlos

Tulisa leads the way in ‘chav chic’
Cheryl Cole and Tulisa Contostavlos have more in common than some may
think. Apart from both being X Factor judges, they each started their careers
at a young age and were famous for a style that has been described by some
fashion magazines as ‘chav chic’: a fashionable re-imagining of clothing
popular with inner city youngsters.

Urban sportswear, cropped jackets, scraped back hair and plenty of bling are
a quick way to get the look.

The difference between the girls is now that Cheryl has found fame; she
tends to dress more like Victoria Beckham than Melanie C. Tulisa, on the
other hand, stays true to her urban roots. Indeed, alongside the glam dresses
you might see her donning on a Saturday night, she’s often spotted wearing
tracksuits from various urban brands and trainers like the Adidas Originals at Very.co.uk.
This decidedly edgy look has drawn a lot of admirers, and a lot of criticism.
The video for her latest video, Sight of You, sees the star looking sultry while
strutting around an urban backdrop. Teaming a classy little black dress with
a pair of killer heels may sound like a no-brainer for instant cocktail party
glamour, but Tulisa chose to add her own bit of chav chic in the form of a
black hoodie and cropped red leather jacket.

Emerald City, Pantone color for 2013 is....

So if you are living under a rock you totally missed out on the announcement of the color of the year (2013) from Pantone.
Pantone--the color authority-- has named Emerald the color of the year. Even though this seasons designers used the color in 11.9% of the collections, it managed to nudge it's way above Monaco Blue and Dusk Blue.
I'm actually in love with the entire color palate for the season... An easy way to incorporate these colors into your wardrobe without breaking the bank is to try them on your nails! I personally am on the hunt for a cute jade colored polish!

Weekend Wrapup: HFB Party/ Highs and Lows

What a long week! This weekend has been full of all kinds of downs. Remember how I bought a 2013 Nissan Altima? Well, why is the air conditioning leaking into the passenger floor of my car? Yea. NO BUENO. Lots of stress involved with my new baby. He's going back to the dealer tomorrow. Being really sick on Saturday. Oh and Pacman getting knocked out, don't get me started on that. I can say the HFB holiday party was a definite high point! Thank God for at least that.

CLOCKWISE: Love these Bloggers, isn't everyone so fab? // OMG I loved her leather skirt, SUPER ADORBS// The party was at Saks 51.Fifteen Bar// Miss Shasie and myself! We have the same BCBG headband, I almost wore it lol.// My name tag, haaayyy// This Saks Truffle was absolutely decadent.// Chicken Samosas from Cheesecake factory. The culprit.
My hair was not complying with anything. My keratin is wearing off. I owe everyone a keratin post LOL. I owe a ton of posts, they're all coming tho! They're really just sitting ready to go. Its sad. ON A HAPPIER NOTE, MY BIRTHDAY IS FRIDAY :)

OOTD: Chicnova Love.

Top Necklace, Chicnovia. Longer necklace, ebay. Top, Love Lucy.
I love it when I get awesome packages in the mail!I placed an order through Chicnova for the first time and I must say... I'm a little obsessed.I got a cute clutch and a collar necklace all for under $30.
I needed a cute small black go-to bag. My favorite thing about this bag/clutch is that I can wear it 3 ways.
My favorite way to wear it, as a shorter chained purse.
Long chain. Still adorbs.
It can also just be a clutch, It comes with this wrist strap.
I am pretty much known for LARGE purses soooo its going to take time to learn how to downsize in a cute way. I'm learning.
If you want the same purse or cute necklace you can check the following links:
BLACK BUCKLE CHAIN BAG
COLLAR NECKLACE WITH TRIANGLE PATTERN

HAPPY SHOPPING :)

These items were sent to me for review. All opinions are my own so back up off me.

Top tips for the best winter bod!

*Sponsored Post*
From dry and frostbitten fingers to red, irritated noses, there’s no doubt winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Luckily, there are a few beauty and body care tips you can do to help you (and your skin) survive the cold weather.
Keep healthy
You may feed a cold and starve a fever, but make sure whatever you’re doing is healthy. Cold weather makes it easy to overindulge in heavy, hearty meals, but it’s important keep eating lots of fruit – not only will you ward off any germy colds, but you’ll also feel more energized and inspired to get through a winter’s day .

Exfoliate and moisturize
These are the two most important things in your winter beauty regime. Get rid of dry and flaky skin with a gentle exfoliator like Johnson’s 2in1 Bath and Shower to improve blood circulation and combat cellulite. Pat--don’t rub—yourself dry after a shower and rub in a thick moisturiser to lock all the goodness in .

Go to bed
Your body automatically regenerates and renews itself during the night, so a good night’s sleep is essential. Tiredness will quite literally show on your face – you’ll be caught with dull skin, dark circles and a telltale yawn. Try to get into a regular bedtime routine; it’s important to get around eight hours of sleep a night. After all, it’s not called beauty sleep for nothing!

Target problem spots
Winter is the perfect time to get to work on any skin issues. If you have unusually itchy or flattened patches, this could be a sign of stretch marks. Stretch marks can develop when the skin is stretched suddenly, often through pregnancy or rapid weight gain . Most stretch marks will fade over time , however you can reduce the appearance with specially designed products such as Johnson’s Skin Perfecting Oil. Massage it in, pop on some toasty PJs and let the oils do the rest!
HAPPY WINTER!
