Weekend Wrap-up: Brazilian Keratin Therapy

CHANGE IS GOOD. Thats what I've heard. I include changes periodically. But yesterday, I decided to do something seemingly drastic. I tamed my long mane into the antithesis of everything it used to be.
Photo Courtesy of miss Tigress Brown, HBIC Hair Stylist.
Long story short, I made the decision in a week to do it and OMG so far I'm loving it.Its only been like one day since treatment LOL. Im going to give weekly updates on my Keratin journey because it's new to me too and I think that it will be helpful for anyone who is interested in getting a BKT.
The process took me almost 3 hours but HELLO, look at how much hair is on my head. Anyone normal it's like 90minutes.  It consisted of a rinse, application, blowout, then final flat iron to seal the product. I can not tie my hair or get it wet for 3 days. EEEP. It rained HARDCORE all day yesterday. I did the best I could.Im loving how healthy my hair looks and how straight it is. I've wanted hair this straight my whole life. I think Im going to flat iron it more often after my initial rinse in 2 days. Then stick to dry shampoos and stuff to make my treatment last, we'll see. I'm going to research it more as I go along LOL.

If you live in Houston and are interested in the BKT or hair cuts, relaxers, extenstions, sew-ins, color, etc.-- HIT HER UP. She's located on Westheimer (Galleria Area) and is super talented check out her site to read up on her services: http://greatcutsandstyles.webs.com/

In other wrap-up news:
Clockwise: I decided that I'm obsessed with Escalante in HIghland Village. I feasted on the Diez lunch special. I went to HFAF (Houston Fine arts festival) a few weekend ago and I'm still reeling from it. I need to go to the museum on Thursdays. I love the inspiration. Yesterday I got swagged out by Chinese Exchange students. We also danced heavily to Gangnum Style. That chevron photo in the bottom left is the lobby area of that salon. I was obsessed with the interior decorating in there. NEED ALL OF IT.
Le sigh. I don't know what to do with myself. My hair is giving me life right meow.

Current Obsession: ELF STUDIO Matte Lipstick

ELF COLOR: Rich Red

So when it comes to ELF products I love the studio line. They just debut some matte lip colors and $3, I had to give them a try. I don't know what it is about my lips, but some brands either disappear, or dry out my lips. So far it seems like NYX colors are the only ones that were working but ohhhhh my. My new goal in the near future is to purchase every matte color from ELF STUDIO.
Coral, Natural, Tea Rose, Nearly Nude, Rich Red
Ok, maybe I'll just pick up the Coral to round out my collection.
Which Colors do you think you will try?

First Day of Fall

Yes, it's officially the first day of fall! Even though we haven't really experienced "fall" weather it is right around the corner and I am excited. Fall wardrobe is my thannngg. Layers and mixing brights and neutrals is what I am into. I just need the weather to turn it down a notch. These 90degree days are getting tiresome.
What trends are you looking forward to?

Current Crave: Steve Madden Hilights

I give in. It started with the photo I tweeted at Charlotte Russe of the Red Sneaker wedges. It was confirmed when I tried on the Steve Madden Hilights. This sneaker wedge trend is priced everywhere from $25-$650 so its super attainable for any price point. I personally am obsessed with the Steve Maddens, but I might spring for the Qupid inspired mainly because they are so trendy, I don't think they'll last multiple seasons.Of course you can always splurge on the original Isabel Marants, I mentioned them on twitter a while back about how iffy I was about the trend... But as always I have fallen in the like.
Partly want to go for the Gold.
All black Maybe?

Steve Madden Hilight, retail $150.
WHICH ARE YOUR FAVE?
I LIKE:
Black on Black on Blackkkk.

Music Monday: Sweet Serial Killer.

So I'm catching up on my LDR leaks and THIS Lana Del Rey song is giving me all the life at the moment. Its constantly on repeat, she is so great. I love her songs that display her sweet voice over a hiphop beat. She's amaze. Songs like this make me fall in love with her music over and over again.

If I lay really quiet, I know that what I do isn't right, I can't stop what I Love to do.

Life in the Affirmative

ARM CANDY EDITION.
I have been obsessed with the BCGC affirmation bracelets for a while and I finally picked up one on Friday. They come with all types of afirmations and Im really upset I couldn't pick up the "Boss" or "My bad" one. They even had one that said "Inspire."They retail $18-26.

I settled for "Fearless" because sometimes I wish I was. I like to pretend I am.

Do you spy my Michael Kors? I caved and bought one. I avoided it for soooo long, it's such a popular watch and you know I don't like the whole crowd thing. Oh well, I love it.
What would yours say? BCBG says, "Its a way of updating your status without going online." Tres Chic.

SO, It's Fashion Week

And I am feeling Fashion WEAK.
I've been sick since Sunday. I don't know what it is, but its wack. I must say though, I am loving a lot of the collections so far for fashion week. YES, street style still reigns supreme, but I wanted to share a few of my fave things so far. PLUS, the smilebooth picture that finally uploaded.
Don't we look faboosh?
My favorite collection so far is from Altuzarra.Lots of embellishments, coats, and interesting fabrics. I loved the whole thing.
Guess who popped in? Ryan, you can pop in anytime unannounced.
AND yes, Marc Jacobs is looking rather thin lately. Its not a complete fashion week without a mention of my Idol Marc Jacobs. His spring collection was great, loving the clean lines and mod looks. NYFW is so magical. Boo being sick, Im going to have to relive it all this weekend.

Did I mention I'm attending HFAF, Houston Fine Art Festival? I can't wait! I'm super excited! Over 3,000works of art I have the 3 days pass, and I am attending ALL THREE, plus the opening reception. I die. I'm such a lover of the arts.

Fashion's NIGHTS Out.

OOTD: Zara Basic dress, Mulberry for Target purse, Forever 21 shoes and necklace.
DAY ONE: I'm in love with this time of the year. Something about seeing new trends, stimulating the economy, and having a reason to dress up... It's great. I started out my fashion "week" on Wednesday at a private blogger event for the upcoming trends this season hosted by Simon Fashion Now in the Houston Galleria. You will be able to see more in the VLOG I'm publishing on Sunday. You can expect some great things fashion-wise this season. This includes what I mentioned in my Katy Mills post, shades of blue, green, furs, printed pants and metallics.
Bestie came to join me!

Aren't the Models looking great? These were my favorite looks.
DAY TWO was actual FNO:

Fashion Night out Prep and Survival Kit.

FNO is among us. It is time to plan your outfit (if you haven't already) and get ready for a long night of DJ's and shopping the latest fall trends. What do I do to brave the night out on the town? These are my go-to products that have not failed me. I usually go to events AFTER a 9 hour work day so this stuff LASTS.

1. Garnier Hair Spray- I live in Texas. Humidity is real.
2. Have you seen my hair? The Garnier Hair creme is what my life is all about.
3. I swear I'm not sponsored by Garnier! The B.B. creme is something I wear everyday mainly because it has SPF in it.It also provides a light coverage so it's speedy to apply in the morning. (I apply it with my ELF Studio stipling brush)
4. Too Faced Primed and Poreless is my lifesaver. (You can can Too Faced primer here from Apothica.com)I wear it underneath my Garnier B.B. Creme. I'm not gonna lie, my T-zone is Oily as hell! The B.B. alone makes my face look oily, but on top of this primer, It stays flawless and ready to slay! I also have huge pores  (eww I know) and I can see a difference when I use it. It's easier to apply than my studio effects from L'oreal because it is in a tube. But they work pretty much the same. In the morning, I am all about speed.
5. I love my liquid eyeliner. I have been using this tube from Estee Lauder but I am out! I'm in the market for something new since this tube is discontinued, so I'll have a new makeup post with whatever I pick. Any suggestions? I've been doing a wing top lid since like.. FEB. It's become a signature.
6. Elf eyelash curler, best curler for $1.
7. Stila eye shadow. I love this trio and I carry it for quick touch ups. Its perfect.
8. Rimmel eye liner is the one eyeliner that can stay on my face ALL DAY. The fact that it's a drugstore brand also makes my life easier. Different things work for different people but the Rimmel waterproof eyeliner has stood the test of time with me.(Also, its not pictured but I DO use ELF eyelid primer as well so that might be helping with why it stays)
9. I tried this new Maybelline Illegal Length mascara, but it's not my fave.It gets the job done but  I'm still in the market for a new one, so if anyone has suggestions let me know!

AS FOR PAINTING THE TOWN:
My blogger best friends are my Camera, Cell phone, and wallet!
I'll be taking photos and Vlogging all week so expect a cool MalibumaraTV episode this weekend!

Weekend Wrap-up: Henri Bendel/ Galleria Style Setter Event.

Lynne, Houston's Style Setter.
On Thursday I went to a great event at the Houston Galleria to meet the Houston Style Setter Lynne Gabriel. She such a sweetheart, and I loved her neon dress! I also got to meet and mingle with a ton of other Houston Fashion Bloggers and entrepreneurs. The event was held at Henri Bendel (WHICH I LOVE) and their latest collections have been really nice!

I kinda got there a bit late since I wanted to shop a bit AND I ran into a friend who works at BCBG. Gosh I need to devote a post to the style in that store. I went right after work and I wanted to change up my look for once, so I threw on my firmoo readers and put my hair in a topknot.

I saw a lot of new faces at this event and passed out a ton of business cards! Tres fun.

Plethora of Bloggers: Imani from Faith Seeker, Shanda from The Naturalista Glam and LaReina from KoutuReign ,Mara from The eye of arms, Ashley from Pretty Hippies Meagan from Fashion-for Breakfast, Valerie from Val Verde Style and Nikki from NW Style& Co and Taylor from Taylorbrionne.com .
My favorite parts of the giftbag, a cute makeup clutch which is now being carried in my purse, and cute pencil LOL, and some perfume.( It also came with makeup samples)
LOTS OF EVENTS TO COME! STAY TUNED.
