Love Hate Relationship: Transparent Bag Trend

I'm obsessed with the chicness of the transparent bag trend... But when I try it myself I just look cheap. Maybe I'm damaged because when I worked for Saks we had to have clear bags to prevent employee theft. Maybe I just don't carry things that look cool in a clear purse. Maybe I just have never gotten my hands on the right one...There are tons BUT I do have to mention I HATE Furla bags with a passion. Oh me.
Either way these street style mavericks have the right idea and I love it.

WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

Wow! The photographs, your experience at Saks and the question you posed of whether I would wear it triggered a torrent of memories and vivid situational images. A few years back I bought a couple of slips, camisoles and many, many pairs of floral anf very feminine coloured panties at a Vanity Fair Outlet store. It was a huge store with directable closed circuit colour TV cameras and monitors. They put my purchases in a clear bag so the world could see the panties I'd bought. Decades earlier when out in full drag (and I still drank) a woman looked in my purse, saw condoms, pulled one out and yelled "safe sex" and proceeded to blow it up like a ballon. My purse was a jumble of lipsticks, mascara, eyeliner, Summer's Eve, foundation, compact, wallet, hairbrush, comb, nailpolish remover and way way too many lipsticks and nailpolishes.
In the photos in your post all the bags are so amazingly neat and organized. One of my first thoughts was how convenient it was for a would be purse-snatcher to scope out what was in the bags. The second thought was wondering how they had the willpower to carry such a small and organized amount of stuff in their purses. Check out all the stuff Grace Chu takes out of her purse in this hilarious "pursefinaFINAL - YouTube" video by Grace Chu of Grace the Spot (including duct tape and a cat).

Actually I would be tempted to try that transparent bag trend if only for the shock value and load it up with the same things I'd normally put in it. I wonder how many people have done that? I'd imagine people put bags inside their bags to avoid having their feminine hygiene products and other personal items on display. I'd guess it would make most people want to be more neat. Then there's the question of coordinating the bag's contents with one's outfit.

I was in love with this trend some years ago, but this is not so easy to wear. Seriuosly...I don't think that people should see what you have in your bag. No one wants to see TAMPAX in my bag :)

i don't know if I could pull it off but those ladies are rocking it. You have to rock this Malibu when you strategically put the cutest stuff in your bag and keep your real bag in the car or with a good homie who never carries a bag at all but will carry yours ;) Love you hun! We must do virtual lunch. Will be emailing you soon
