HTOWN SNEAKER SUMMIT: SUMMER 2016 EDITION

This year's Sneaker Summit was sponsored by Crep and Metro PCS. It was another great gathering of sneaker and street style lovers in Houston! Booths from Bun B, LE$ , Slim Thug, Paul Wall and ZRO really brought the spirit of HTOWN to the summit. I have been to many sneaker conventions and having HTOWN brands like that really sets this one apart. Also, starting off with a Running Man challenge never hurt anyone.
Can I get one of these LE$ Prints for my home? Maybe more than one....

Every year what I enjoy seeing is the traders area. This year they had a bigger more defined space catered with Monster Energy drinks. The traders quickly outgrew their space but they kept being told to stay within this area. I like seeing everyone trading for the size they wanted or being impressed with what each other has. Everyone is pretty nice to eachother, its a chill and unique atmosphere you need to witness at least once in your life.
Out side of the traders the booths were full of mostly sellers or people displaying their collections. Totally confused how two booths had multiple pairs of the Pharrell Human Race collabs! Like I can't even get one but they're out here 8 pairs deep. Each size, if you wanted to purchase, ranged from $300-850.  Le Sigh.
Another huge trend was the Key Master arcade style machine. People were ready to give up $5 a play but man those machines are so rigged, I was at the summit for at least 2 hours and never saw anyone win.

All in all it was a great summit. Larger than the last one I attended and I am glad to see the sneaker culture is still hanging on! Lots of Dunks, NMDS, and Vans were on trend this time around. I saw some Bape stickers that I wanted but the booth took cash only and we all know I never carry cash.
Always a great time with HTSS.

Until Next time!

Houston A-Z | K is for Kicks

H-Town is home to the H-Town Sneaker Summit, the largest sneaker convention in North America. I have been many times but my favorite was the All Star Edition. Everyone from Teyana Taylor to Trinidad James was there. It was probably the most packed I have ever seen but that was most likely because it was All Star weekend and the whole attends anything that weekend.
Every summit is always evolving. The Yeezy Boost has really exposed some of the hype in the industry. We are reaching a point there are more sellers and buyers are kind of over it.
The next all star edition will be in Toronto, I wish I could make it out.
Sneaker Summit brings in people from everywhere to showcase not only their sneaker collections but also vendors come out to sell their products. I always find cool new Houston based t-shirt lines when I go, there are a few I need to go online and order for Comic Con.
Its a different experience.

H-TOWN SNEAKER SUMMIT | Winter 2015

Last week I ventured back to NRG Park and attended the H-Town Sneaker Summit. The event evolves every time I go and this was no exception.  It looks like the trader area is larger than I can remember it being, the number of booths was a little smaller but there was still a lot to look at if you were interested in buying or selling.

H-TOWN Sneaker Summit | Winter 2014

Winter wasn't complete without a trip to Houston's very own sneaker summit. This is the 11th time sneaker admirers near and far came out to buy, trade, and peep various kicks. Lots of vendors were out and there was no shortage of sneaker peeps looking to trade, buy or sell. I ran into Paul Wall and he said "Awwwready" in our convo. It was pretty much my highlight. The DJs were really dope and Slim Thug was also in attendance. Kicks Vault, Houston Rockets, and Loyal KNG were my fave booths this year. This summit was a little smaller than some in the past (In terms of number of booths), but there was still a large amount of people in attendance.
I spy some swaggy kids! And Rubi (IG: 90rubi)
