Happy Halloween.

So everyone celebrated yesterday, Halloween is actually tomorrow but whatever. I had to squeeze in my mandatory Marc Jacobs Halloween appreciation post. What am I doing for Halloween? My homework...LOL. I think on Monday I'm going to hang with some friends and be festive.

Who is Dudley O'shaughnessy

So who is Dudley O'shaughnessy esides being the gorgeous Model/Boxer that everyone only knows from the Rihanna Video "We Found Love." HIS NAME IS NOT CALVIN HARRIS! CALVIN HARRIS IS A SONGWRITER/POP ARTIST/DJ. Just had to clear those 2 things up.

So anyway, go ahead and tell Dudley that we can get married whenever he's ready or whatever. More Dudley Appreciation after the Jump:

Keep My Shine.

(CHILDISH GAMBINO-MYSHINE)

Are sequins re-emerging? I have been coming across many sequin styled photos and I am liking what I see. I think I just like shiny. Now lets find my inner shine and everything will be alright. I have so much stuff to do, hence the lag in blogging.

Trend Alert-Pleats

I'm a little behind on posting this, but I really like the way a pleat adds some dimension to a look.

I saw it about a month ago on asos.com and I immediately remembered in my closet I own a pleated pink dress! I got it in High School,Still chic!Perfect for layering as well, I love the wear these following street stylists styled their pleated skirts, BE INSPIRED and don't be afraid to try it!

Halloween Nail Art

Looking at the calendar I realized how close Halloween is! Next week there is a volunteer fundraiser called "Fall Festival" and I am over-thinking what I should wear? Not a costume because I am working the event and going on 22 LOL, I'm working with "chilrens" sooooo any costume I desire is not appropriate. I think I'll find something random in my closet that's festive, I surprise myself sometimes with the things that are in there.
While at the store, I came across some Sally Hansen nail stickers that are Halloween themed!

I wanted the ghosts ones BUT they we're $8.50 and I can probably do something festive myself. I have a bundle monster nail kit (knock off version of konad) that has some Halloween stencils. I looked up some nail designs and had to share them!

Fall Trends:Layers

Yessss, its cold outside! I can finally be comfortable and warm, and pull out fall fashion. Here in Texas the weather is always changing, so layers are my best friend. Side note: I am about to start making my own vests and cardigans, I saw this easy pattern making for one on Chris March, Mad Fashion. I'm inspired! But anyway, enjoy my layers inspiration!

Frontin'

Tomorrow there is supposed to be a cold front coming through with temps ranging from 40's-70's during the day. Its OCTOBER, still 90s, I don't think Houston understands what that means.
Anywho, Im waiting to wear boots, and play with textures. Something I'm loving for this next season is fur (faux of course)!
Textures, textures, textures!

'Twas Homecoming Weekend.

We mighty fine Bearkats are now 6-0! We beat everything out of Nichols, 47-7. LOL.
I did decide to show some homecoming spirit for my senior year, so I actually braved the direct sun (I wore sunscreen this year! Best invention ever!) and stayed for about 2/3 (I left when it was 30-0, It was obvious we were going to win) of the game.
My friend Narvina and me at the game! I, in true Mara fashion couldn't just wear a SHSU shirt, I have to wear an Orange cami and accessorize appropriately.

Can't Resist.

While reading NYmag this morning, I came across an article about the items that street stylists love to shoot... Not to mention, I also love to wear these. I am also a confessed lenslurker....

A Year Without Rain

Symbolic of the droughts in Texas and the unlikely feeling of autumn, I am here, feeling solicitous. It's almost like I blinked my eyes and life got complicated. I feel like I'm wandering in a desert.

I'll get to where I need to be. I always do. At least I have a plan.I just need it to work... quickly.

Krylon Glitter Blast

A DIY girls best friend. I really need to buy this stuff in every color.
For those of you who aren't familiar, Krylon makes regular spray paint:
I enjoy looking at graffiti. The artsy kind that is. And yes I know a thing or two, real artists think krylon (or all american spray paint) is not suitable for graffiti. BUT ANYWAY-- Imagine my excitement when I saw these cans! I mean, Imagine all the DIY possibilities:

Make Up Faves

Urban Decay Primer Potion//Sephora Roll On Instant Depuffing eye gel// Rimmel Extra Super Lash// Loreal Studio Secrets Facial Primer// Estee Lauder Pure color eyeliner 901 in Pure Black// Elf shadows//Revlon lipstick in Siren// Generic Trim Eye Lash Curler// Avon eyeliner brush.
I wanted to make a MalibuMaraTV about this but I am on a hiatus for a while.I use these items the most in my makeup bag. I don't really wear makeup besides eyeliner and mascara. Thats really all I have time for in the morning! I bought the extra super lash on a whim and it is amazing, it lengthens very well! The roll one depuffing gel saves my life, I naturally have bags under my eyes, this really clears them up. I want to try the Garnier one just because, I hear a lot of things about them. For these really hot months the studio secret facial primer is my MUST HAVE item.I use the angle brush and black shadow was eyeliner mainly because I ran out of my Maybelline and I haven't replaced it. I really never wear lipstick, but for a fun pop, Siren from revlon is really great. Please be fall soon, It will look awesome with my selection of neutrals and neons, stay tuned for outfits posts :)

Whats in your makeup bag? DO we share any of the same products?
P.S. I'm a .com now :) YAY

Wild Thing

Want to make my wardrobe happy? I like mixed prints, native palates, and different textures. OH LOOK, net-a-porter styled a shoot around that. I LOVE IT.
Fall is a riot of color and texture as fashion turns neo-tribal with an eclectic mega mix of texture, artisan embellishments and hot color.
I LOVE these colors, obsessed doesn't even begin to describe it.You can shop the shoot at their site: http://www.net-a-porter.com
I died at the Cobra Society Boots,
Cobra Society knee boots: black brushed-leather, multicolored hand-woven wool, heel measures approximately 50mm/ 2 inches, cutout at back, designer tag, yellow stitching, almond toe. The woolen part of these boots is hand-woven and therefore the pattern may vary from that shown.

SO back to reality. I have massive homework and laundry to do.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

I wasn't going to post today but I am really bummed out about Steve Jobs passing today. I saw a documentary about apple and his life over the summer and he was truely a steadfast innovator and I admired his tenacity. If anyone gets a chance, I'm almost positive that CNBC will be playing the documentary again, GO WATCH IT. Mid 2004 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and it got the best of him. He resigned this past August knowing he could no longer fulfill his duties and expectations as CEO. I always say the point of life isn't to live forever, its to make something that will. Congrats Steve Jobs, you did it.

Kanye West Dw. Clothing Line

I love Kanye West and as you may know, today he showed during Paris Fashion week.
It seems to draw from a bit of Alexander Wang, Celene, and Rodarte. I don't see a definite identity yet. I like what I see, but I can't look at it and say "Oh this is Kanye West."I still think it's great if I can compare it to those people. Hard work goes a long way. But I think Ye has a long way to go. The tailoring was off, and the styling wasn't cohesive. I really want to like this collection, but I guess I just have to wait and see what's next.

I love this Jacket!!
