Houston Press Artopia was held on Saturday and I must say it was pretty much what it is called, ARTOPIA. I met up with two other bloggers, Aymara and Ashia at 360 on Washington before hand. Upon arrival I checked my camera and saw that it had DIED! AHHH, No bueno. LUCKY for me Aymara is super awesome and had an extra camera. I captured a few shots but not to too many. If you have never heard of Artopia before, it features Fashion, Art, Music and Food. This year it was hosted at Winter Street studios and the art vibe was present at every corner.
For the art crowd works were featured from Patrick Medrano, Jermaine Rogers, Lauren Luna, and MANY More. Those were just my faves. Awesome food samples were provided. On the music stage there were performances from Poor Pilate, Bang Banz and Bagheera. Fashion wise Red Rocket and there was a presentation by Dawn Bell. I'm really sad I could document the entire night visually but I must say it was a fun experience!
Highly recommended.

Music Monday: Big Boi, "Tremendous Damage"
I told the man in the mirror: "Keep pushin on."
I swear I listen to this song everyday. Sometimes life is so overwhelming but you just have to keep moving forward. They say that when things bring you down it's only because they are behind you. I put a lot behind me and I am looking ahead to whatever the future holds. I feel like its bright, and I know I'm finding happiness again. This song is pretty much what got me through a lot. Big Boi is a genius. It's today's music Monday because its just a beautiful song that I think might help someone else out. ENJOY, and the whole album is dope. HIGHLY RECOMENDED,PS: Read about how AWESOME Artopia was tomorrow, and on Thursday an awesome Collaborative Interview with Scott McKenzie.

Weekend Wrap-up: January Round-up
Its been a long week. I topped it off by attending Artopia (Article this week!) and getting a new Keratin treatment! Finally paid my car down, got a random review/raise at work (Don't get too excited it's really not a big deal) I must say 2013 is settling in pretty well.
Weekend Wrap-up: 1) Did you know I'm like okay at playing Tekken? Nerd alert. 2)The Coachella line-up is out. I DIE. As usual I will want to go but not make it out. 3) Walking around Rice Village I found this dope street art themed Magazine hangar. Jermaine Rogers work is featured. 4) This might be the second time I've mentioned the awesomeness that is Smashburger. Fried pickles for the win. 5) Asymmetrical skirts for the win! Just a little sneek of the outfit I wore to Artopia. 6) Artopia Arm Party. 7) I feel bad because I forgot this artist's name. Maybe I will find it in time for my Artopia post. Either way his work was DOPE.
So I am dropping an interview next week(Just a guy by the name of... SCOTT MCKENZIE), some information on some things that are to come, AND my Artopia article!
STAY TUNED.

Current Crave: Sky High Dunks
In my old life as a hip-hop dancer all I wore were Nike dunks. Here we are 5 years later and my love doesn't seem to want to die. I bought a pair of the red--ahem, Hyper-Red Sky Highs from Nordstrom as a birthday present to myself. They're in my weekend rotation. I came across the cool BHM pair, but upon further inspection decided I didn't really dig them. When it comes to me, I like things I can get multiple wears out of.... so I stick to blacks, whites, cremes. So this is perfect:
So these black--ahem, Obsidian Sky Highs have my name all over them. Must. Have. They're in stores now!
WOULD YOU WEAR THEM?

Trend Report: The New Asymmetrical Skirt
Since I'm 5'2'',I have never been a fan of the Maxi Dress. I love the drama, so the fishtail skirt was such a natural progression. Of course as the fashion cycle turns... The fishtail (or High-Low) dress is a little played out. For drama and illusion, Im am obsessed with the new Asymmetrical skirt. High-low 2.0? I bought one in a nudeish/peachy (similar to the white one) color for Artopia this weekend! Needless to say I'm going to look super fresh for Artopia :)
